VA Beach Vacation 2010

We had such an amazing vacation to VA Beach. We started this family vacation tradition last year during the same time. Our trip was from Sunday thru Thursday. We stopped by Stony Creek, VA (Ida's childhood home) and visited family. She stayed there with her brother for a visit, and we continued on! It was so great to see our extended family.

We arrived there in perfect time for check in in and was ready to relax, but Jaxson couldn't stop talking about going on the beach, so while Maddox took a much needed nap, Jaxson and I went down to the beach. He loves the water. It brought so much joy to me watching him. Of course, I had the "Mommy complex" with fear. Jaxson was fearless and that is so scary for me. We have taken a basic introduction to swimming, but he is still so young. The first day, I wouldn't let him near the water without holding my hand.

For dinner we ordered in some Italian food, and then hit the sack. Traveling is so exhausting! Monday morning we headed to the beach early, 2 kids in a suite is good, but after being up for a while, it was time to go outside. We stayed on the beach from 9:30 am until lunch time 12:00. Had lunch, took naps and then went out to dinner at Sonic. SO much for a relaxing dinner, Jaxson had an potty accident sitting in his car seat, and Maddox ended up throwing up some food in his car seat. Needless to say it wasn't so much fun!

Tuesday proved to be a much better day! Aunt Davida, Aunt Lois, and Micah (The Bratton's) came to visit us at the beach. We had a great time! After naps, we played in the room, and then meet them at Outback for dinner.

The boys did such a great job eating out! I was so proud. It's only like the 3 time they have been "out" to dinner. I know that sounds crazy, but we tend to order in! They ate really well and then we went back over to their house to hang out and play. They have a wonderful playground near their house, and the boys had a blast playing.

Wednesday we planned to go on the Rudee Flipper dolphin boat. We found some great coupons and headed out. Maddox and Jaxson were a little cranky, but we ended having a great time. Well, Maddox ended up sleeping for most of it! We saw a lot of dolphins and dolphin babies. I was so glad to have been able to take the boys on their first boat ride! After nap, Jaxson and I went to play at the pool. We meet a friendly family that was acutally from Winchester, VA. We meet up the with Brattons again for dinner and give the boys a chance to hang out again!

Thursday we ended up packing up early, (seeing has Hurricane Earl wanted to come thru!)and arrived home around 2:00. We truly enjoyed our time with the boys, and can't wait to do it again next year!

Happy 3rd Birthday Jaxson!

This past weekend we celebrated Jaxson's 3rd Birthday. We had friends and family over to our house. The weather was amazing. We rented a moon bounce and had snacks, Popsicles and of course cake. Jaxson seemed to really "get" how this was his special day. He was very well behaved during the party. There was only 1 meltdown when a friend wanted to use his new drill? He really enjoyed playing with his friends and of course opening his new presents! Everyone was so generous!

We really had a great weekend, but after Maddox's, Jaxson and my birthday about every two weeks, we have decided that next year we will be doing one big combo party in late July. Until the boys know the difference and want separate parties, it is just More cost efficient and easier to do it all together. We still have one more party next weekend for Ida's 65th Surprise party. Then we will be off to VA Beach for our family vacation, which I am so excited for.

Hot Fun in the Summer Sun!

These past few weeks have been amazing. It seems so funny how the summer time is unlike the other seasons. What is also funny about summer time, is that it seems to be the season which goes by the fastest. Since July 4th weekend, we have been so busy. Jaxson enjoyed his first "offical" fireworks, we celebrated my 30th birthday and then had Charles' godson Devin stay and visit with us, went to Splash Down Waterpark, celebrated Maddox's 1st birthday, went to the drive in movies with Grandma and Papa Frank/ This week we are preparing for Jaxson's 3rd birthday! WOW, what a summer already! We are still looking forward to Ida's 65th birthday, and a week at VA beach at the end of August.

Maddox is changing more and more everyday! He is trying to repeat all the words we are saying. This evening he was trying to say "night, night!" It was so adorable. He would then try to put his head down on his high chair....ADORABLE!

Jaxson's is talking so much and I have realized he has the most impressive memory. He even knows where different places are like the bowling alley and the bank. Whenever we leave school for the day he knows which way I like to drive home and which way Daddy likes to drive home. He is actually visiting Grandma and Papa Frank for a few days. He really loves visiting them! We had a great time at the drive in movies. Here are a few pictures!

Can't wait to see what August brings!

The Fabulous 30's!

So this past weekend I celebrated my 30th Birthday. We ended up celebrating all weekend. It started Friday night when we went to a friends 40th bday celebration. Saturday, my acutal bday, I met up with Jamie and got pampered. Then she tried to distract me with shopping to save time before my "surprise party!" It was so great! I had almost all of my family and my great friends there to celebrate with me. Charles did an amazing job! Later that evening the girls and I went out for dinner and had a great time.
Although turning 30 is supposed to be "sad." I really used it as a time to reflect on how far I have already come. From marrying my best friend, buying our first home to having two wonderful chidren, I used this day to be thankful. I am truly blessed everyday. I do feel that I am following the right path. There are always things in which I would like to make better, but I truly feel so much of what I wanted in my life has come to be. The future is still in the hands of my maker, and I am ready for the challenges and the successes that lie ahead. God, thank you for my first 30 years and here's to many more!

Catch Up!

Just wanted to put a few pictures up of the boys since I haven't posted anything since APRIL!! It's almost summer time which means 4 birthdays in the Davis house! Myself July 10th, Maddox July 20th, Jaxson August 9th and then Nonnie August 26th. I have been busy trying to plan birthday parties and our summer vacation!

Maddox had starting "walking" as of this weekend. He is taking more and more steps everyday! He also had starting singing E-I-E-I-). If you start off singing "Old McDonald", he will usually chime in at the right time with EIEIO!! It is so cute. He is working on his 6 and 7th tooth. I still can't believe my "Stinka" is going to by 1 years old in a month...time is soooo flying by!

We also recently took Jaxson bowling for the first time. To our surprise, they were doing "Cosmic" bowling, so there were lights and music. He was a little intimidated by it when we first arrived, but warmed up quickly. He insisted on trying to hold the ball like Mommy and Daddy, and almost dropped it a thousand times! He was doing great, but by the 8th frame he was ready to go! All in all, a great time. We plan to take him again sometime soon, b/c they are doing free bowling all summer for kids!

Over Memorial Day weekend, Aunt Jamie and I took Jaxson to Algonkian Water Park. He had a blast. He was a little afraid of the "big bucket," but in the end decided that he liked to watch it spill over, but didn't want to be hit with the water. It is so excited to see him try new things. It's amazing that they look to us to set their fears aside, and guide them to try new things! Those are the priceless motherhood/parenting moments that make all the crazy days drift in the distance!

Also in May, Charles, my Dad, and step mom and I worked over 3 full days to replace the old boards on our deck and replace them with new ones. It looks amazing. It was officially our first home improvement project. We still have yet to finish it by staining it, but we can't wait to have our first cookout in the near future!

Here's to our upcoming Summer time FUN! Can't wait to post more!

Growing Like Crazy!

The boys are growing like crazy. Maddox had his 9th month bday on April 20th. He had his check on Tuesday, April 26th, and he weighed in at 23 lbs. and 2 oz. He was 28.5 inches long and he is overall pretty much in the 75th percentile for all his measurements which is no suprise b/c he my "big" boy! He has such an incredible personality. He is always so happy, unless it's feeding time. He is refusing most baby food and wants real table food. He seems to like almost everything we feed him. He also loves to laugh. See video for a cute example. Jaxson has changed so much in the past few weeks. His verbal skills are so amazing. He is having such intelligent conversation, and will even correct us if he misinterpreted what he said. He has also started making this particular face when he is trying to explain something. He kinda squinches up his face, and closes one eye. The "look" is one of my favorite new things. I will work on trying to capture it with the camera!
