Christmas Holiday Season

This time of year has always been so special to me, but since having Jaxson 3 years ago and Maddox last year, it has brought even greater joy to my life. My family has always made the Christmas holiday so special. Being raised in a divorced family this was always the time of year when it seemed to work to my favor. The week before and after, was always spent trying to see all members of my family from both sides. I loved it! It seems that there were multiple actual "Christmas" days! Yeah so there were always great gifts, but seeing my family was so special. As I have gotten older, there are family members that I don't see anymore and I do miss them! Then there are other members of my family, that since having children we get to see more often. One of the greatest joys has been seeing my children with their "second" cousins. I am excited that this year, we will be able to see Wendy, Renee, and Emery. I can't wait for Jaxson to get to know Emery. It's kinda great b/c Jaxson is 3, Emery is 2 and Maddox is 1. Maddox might acutally weigh more tham Emery....LOL!

Now that I am married, the difficult journey continues of trying to decide how to share the holidays with all sides of our families. I wish there was a perfect answer, but there isn't. I do feel that it is important the the boys celebrate Cheristmas morning at home (not to mention, I don't want to drag the presents on a trip!!). We will do our best, and may not see everyone on the exact days, but isn't that why they call it the Christmas Season?

So today we did not to any shopping with all the crazy people...sorry if I am naming you. It's just not my thing! We had a relaxing morning and then after lunch and naps, Jaxson and I put up the tree and then Daddy and Maddox joined us for lights, beads, and of course the decorations. It's funny how my treat looked like it came out of a catolog when we first got married with all "purchased" ornaments. But now, having the boys, we have collected some really special ornaments, espcially ones handmade by them at school. My mom has been so great about getting the boys special ornaments from Hallmark for each Christmas they have celebrated! I love how our tree looks now! We still have a fake tree, and will most likely always have one like this.

Well we have a few more days off together, so I look forward to spending with my boys! Here's to kicking off the Christmas Season!

Catch Up!

It's been a few months since my last entry. Work and home have kept me busy. My company is going through some great changes. I can't share too much right now, but it has been amazing to be apart of something so "life changing."

Jaxson and Maddox have been keeping us busy. We have had several birthday parties to attend, play dates with friends, and then of course spending time we all of our family members. Jaxson is loving being an official "preschooler." He loves all of his teachers and talks his friends and the classroom activities all the time. He is really shows signs of using his imagination. He got a kitchen set for his 3rd birthday this year and has just now really started using it on a daily basis. Maddox loves playing with the play food too, so they often play together which melts my heart. He also loves helping me in the kitchen. Below is a picture showing the finshed product of our first homemade pizza!

Maddox is really starting to talk so much. He wants to do everything Jaxson is doing, so that has created it's own set of challenges. Seeing them together has got to be one of the best feelings. This is exactly what I wanted having two children. Having a sibling is the best gift we have given the boys. It's sad to think about but one day Charles and I won't be here, so they will have eachother. I just hope that nothing pulls them apart and that they are forever friends and can be a support system for each other.

We are excited for the holiday season which is just around the corner. We are going to be spending Thanksgiving day with our great family friends the Hodges and the Leiths. It is hard around the holidays to be sure to see both sides of our families. It is a challenge, but we do our best to spread the holidays out between all sides of our families. I hope to take some time off during the holidays, so I will be sure to add more entries soon!

VA Beach Vacation 2010

We had such an amazing vacation to VA Beach. We started this family vacation tradition last year during the same time. Our trip was from Sunday thru Thursday. We stopped by Stony Creek, VA (Ida's childhood home) and visited family. She stayed there with her brother for a visit, and we continued on! It was so great to see our extended family.

We arrived there in perfect time for check in in and was ready to relax, but Jaxson couldn't stop talking about going on the beach, so while Maddox took a much needed nap, Jaxson and I went down to the beach. He loves the water. It brought so much joy to me watching him. Of course, I had the "Mommy complex" with fear. Jaxson was fearless and that is so scary for me. We have taken a basic introduction to swimming, but he is still so young. The first day, I wouldn't let him near the water without holding my hand.

For dinner we ordered in some Italian food, and then hit the sack. Traveling is so exhausting! Monday morning we headed to the beach early, 2 kids in a suite is good, but after being up for a while, it was time to go outside. We stayed on the beach from 9:30 am until lunch time 12:00. Had lunch, took naps and then went out to dinner at Sonic. SO much for a relaxing dinner, Jaxson had an potty accident sitting in his car seat, and Maddox ended up throwing up some food in his car seat. Needless to say it wasn't so much fun!

Tuesday proved to be a much better day! Aunt Davida, Aunt Lois, and Micah (The Bratton's) came to visit us at the beach. We had a great time! After naps, we played in the room, and then meet them at Outback for dinner.

The boys did such a great job eating out! I was so proud. It's only like the 3 time they have been "out" to dinner. I know that sounds crazy, but we tend to order in! They ate really well and then we went back over to their house to hang out and play. They have a wonderful playground near their house, and the boys had a blast playing.

Wednesday we planned to go on the Rudee Flipper dolphin boat. We found some great coupons and headed out. Maddox and Jaxson were a little cranky, but we ended having a great time. Well, Maddox ended up sleeping for most of it! We saw a lot of dolphins and dolphin babies. I was so glad to have been able to take the boys on their first boat ride! After nap, Jaxson and I went to play at the pool. We meet a friendly family that was acutally from Winchester, VA. We meet up the with Brattons again for dinner and give the boys a chance to hang out again!

Thursday we ended up packing up early, (seeing has Hurricane Earl wanted to come thru!)and arrived home around 2:00. We truly enjoyed our time with the boys, and can't wait to do it again next year!

Happy 3rd Birthday Jaxson!

This past weekend we celebrated Jaxson's 3rd Birthday. We had friends and family over to our house. The weather was amazing. We rented a moon bounce and had snacks, Popsicles and of course cake. Jaxson seemed to really "get" how this was his special day. He was very well behaved during the party. There was only 1 meltdown when a friend wanted to use his new drill? He really enjoyed playing with his friends and of course opening his new presents! Everyone was so generous!

We really had a great weekend, but after Maddox's, Jaxson and my birthday about every two weeks, we have decided that next year we will be doing one big combo party in late July. Until the boys know the difference and want separate parties, it is just More cost efficient and easier to do it all together. We still have one more party next weekend for Ida's 65th Surprise party. Then we will be off to VA Beach for our family vacation, which I am so excited for.

Hot Fun in the Summer Sun!

These past few weeks have been amazing. It seems so funny how the summer time is unlike the other seasons. What is also funny about summer time, is that it seems to be the season which goes by the fastest. Since July 4th weekend, we have been so busy. Jaxson enjoyed his first "offical" fireworks, we celebrated my 30th birthday and then had Charles' godson Devin stay and visit with us, went to Splash Down Waterpark, celebrated Maddox's 1st birthday, went to the drive in movies with Grandma and Papa Frank/ This week we are preparing for Jaxson's 3rd birthday! WOW, what a summer already! We are still looking forward to Ida's 65th birthday, and a week at VA beach at the end of August.

Maddox is changing more and more everyday! He is trying to repeat all the words we are saying. This evening he was trying to say "night, night!" It was so adorable. He would then try to put his head down on his high chair....ADORABLE!

Jaxson's is talking so much and I have realized he has the most impressive memory. He even knows where different places are like the bowling alley and the bank. Whenever we leave school for the day he knows which way I like to drive home and which way Daddy likes to drive home. He is actually visiting Grandma and Papa Frank for a few days. He really loves visiting them! We had a great time at the drive in movies. Here are a few pictures!

Can't wait to see what August brings!

The Fabulous 30's!

So this past weekend I celebrated my 30th Birthday. We ended up celebrating all weekend. It started Friday night when we went to a friends 40th bday celebration. Saturday, my acutal bday, I met up with Jamie and got pampered. Then she tried to distract me with shopping to save time before my "surprise party!" It was so great! I had almost all of my family and my great friends there to celebrate with me. Charles did an amazing job! Later that evening the girls and I went out for dinner and had a great time.
Although turning 30 is supposed to be "sad." I really used it as a time to reflect on how far I have already come. From marrying my best friend, buying our first home to having two wonderful chidren, I used this day to be thankful. I am truly blessed everyday. I do feel that I am following the right path. There are always things in which I would like to make better, but I truly feel so much of what I wanted in my life has come to be. The future is still in the hands of my maker, and I am ready for the challenges and the successes that lie ahead. God, thank you for my first 30 years and here's to many more!

Wonderful Weekend

The Davis Family had a very special weekend! Charles and I celebrated our 6th Wedding Anniversary and Father's Day. We had dinner at Sakura's Japanese Steakhouse. We had a great time! Then Sunday, for Father's Day we have my Dad, Mum, Dusty, Mom and Frank over to grill out. We had an amazing time. Here are a few great pictures that I took!

I am so lucky to have such wonderful parents.
